Behind The Scenes
What it looks like to be apart of our vision. This is behind the scenes of what we do and how we do it.
Exploring currumbinMy day had many experiences such as, having birds attack the drone, learning beach portrait photography and more. But what stood out was the experience i had with lighting and white balance in the direct sunlight. This gave me a bit more knowledge when taking photo's at the beach. Here is what my day looked like First we took some laying down shots on the beach, just to try get all the correct settings on the camera. It came out better than i was hoping, the glasses added aesthetics to the photo making the image "Pop" a bit more. These are probably the favourites taken on the day, it has a good angle, not a too distracting background and makes the object the centre of focus. That is why it was the best taken on the day. What i learnt1 - Background When taking photo's it is key to factor in the background of the object, sometimes the background takes away from the object or person. That is why it is key to try line up the photo's so the background doesn't interfere with the image too much. 2 - Angles Taking portrait shots means using different angles to make it look a bit more abstract or different to the usual straight on photo. Also with these different angles its also good to consider the background of the object too. 3 - Location When talking about beach portrait photography people usually think there isn't much variability, sand, ocean and sky thats it. But that is far from the truth, there are rocks, there are fences and also tall sand grass to change up the photo. I learnt that its better to mix up the photo's using different angles and objects in foreground and background. These help to develop a successful photo 4 - Overall It was a good experience taking beach portrait photography as i further expand my knowledge in this area of photography. I have a few ideas for the next time i go to the beach to take family or portrait photo's. This was a well spent trip, i can't wait to do it again. All the photo's from the day are at my beach photography gallery. Click the image below to take a look at the photo's on the day
The work that stands out Over the past 2 weeks, i have had over 100 visitors look at my work. Through my analytics i can see what was more appealing to the public and which was more attractive to them. These are the top 5 most viewed shots so far : 5 : 4 : 3 : 2 : 1 : ProgressAlthough these may be the most viewed work of mine so far, the data shows a huge increase in traffic. We have had a 320% increased bounce rate (Which is them returning back to the website), not only that but i have received exposure over facebook, through an affiliate link someone has posted about i have had multiple sources and people come from there. Another large amount of traffic is through oganic search, meaning that there are people looking for photography services on the Gold Coast, through these finding i will soon be initiating an advertisement campaign on instagram and facebook to bring even more traffic and work to the website.
See you next time! utilising drone images to make Abstract graphicsOnce i edited the photo's i knew they could be used for more than just static imagery, i could use it for some cool graphic and wallpaper designs. Using the photoshop masking technique i was able to make cool things like these :
Exploring Snapper RocksToday on our bucket list was action shots, drone footage and cool photo's in general. We decided to venture across the Rainbow Bay Beach towards Snapper getting as much footage as possible ( You will see why soon ). As we made our way we saw on the corner of the rocks was an easy to navigate spot to stand and take photo's of surfers. This is what the day looked like and what it consisted of. After collecting footage we stood on the rocks taking as many photo's as possible to edit and work with in the post process of the shoot. We aimed to get cool action shots with some unusual twists in the middle of the casual ones. These came out like this. Some angles of the photo's had different shades of light beaming through it, giving it different depths of colours, just as seen in the previous 2. There were some other pretty good surfers maximising the potential of the waves that i seemed to have caught on camera. They came out better than i thought they would. Not all my images consisted of objects in the frame, i took some photo's from the drone that came out exceeding mine and others expectations. The first two are taken with a D7400 and after that are drone shots. Here are a few of the drone shots taken on the day. That conclude my day out exploring the opportunities provided by nature, i captured so much i filled two SD cards full and still editing. So many more to come in the future.
Exploring The pools of currumbinOur journey today had many twists and turns, we ventured around the rocks and explored every crevice and corner for nothing in particular. We decided to shoot landscape and portrait style shots. Just to fit in with the natural Aesthetics provided for us. Our journey from the main area began as we headed up stream, to the brighter cleaner looking areas. We crossed over creeks, streams and almost fell over a couple times. But i guess its all about of the photography experience. We started taken a few photo's standing ,sitting and moving around on the corner of the stream. Some of the experimental shots look like these : After taking a few shots we moved a bit further up stream where we got some long exposure shots. Some more experimental shots that added to our gallery of glory include : We then continued our exploration into the wilderness that Currumbin rock pools offered as we made our way around the bushes, trees and wildlife. Our journey was soon going to come to an end so we decided to settle and have some lunch as we took some long exposure shots. Before we had to leave we got a rare and amazing opportunity to fly a drone above the area capturing the natural essence and aesthetics. The time to return home drew near and we knew that our time was slowly fading away. But it was a well spent journey exploring what Currumbin rock pools offered. We learnt how to coordinate with the harsh terrain understanding how to take photo's in those awkward angles and areas. But at least we learnt and experienced something new.
